Trinity Friends Church of Van Wert welcomes new senior pastor

VAN WERT — Trinity Friends Church of Van Wert has hired a new senior pastor.

The Rev. Greg and Pam Rice are the new pastoral couple at Trinity. Greg Rice is a former youth pastor for Trinity, serving from 1996 to 2001. Duane Rice, who served as Trinity’s pastor from 1981 to 2001, was his father.

During the past 16 years, Greg Rice has served as pastor of Alum Creek Friends Church, associate pastor at East Richland Friends Church, and assistant pastor at Ypsilanti Friends Church. He has experience in all sorts of ministry, including preaching, teaching, youth ministry, young families, sports ministry, outdoorsmen, outreach, evangelism, Christian education, and recovery ministries.

Pam (Shields) Rice, daughter of Ralph and Grace Shields, also grew up in Van Wert. Among many other accomplishments, she was involved with the Van Wert High School Marching Band and Choir, and graduated as valedictorian of her class.

Greg Rice will assume his office as senior pastor on July 1. The Trinity Friends Search Committee invites everyone who would like to help welcome them to Van Wert to church on July 2. Services are at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Trinity is located at 605 N. Franklin St. in Van Wert.
