LIMA — The Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition reported Wednesday that there were no fatal traffic crashes on Allen County roadways during the month of May.
During the first five months of 2017, there have been four fatal crashes, resulting in four fatalities. In 2016, during the same five-month period, there were two fatal crashes, resulting in three fatalities.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, each traffic fatality has a comprehensive cost of $5.4 million. Total comprehensive costs for 2017 Allen County fatal crashes were $21.5 million through last month.
