Fake bomb shuts down Lima streets

LIMA — Lima Police officers were called to Metcalf Street near Wayne Street at 10:29 a.m. Friday after a suspicious package was reported.

Sgt. Nick Hart, Sgt. Charles Godfrey, Patrolman Billy Thompson and Patrolman Kaitlyn Weidman arrived on scene to find a package with the words “bomb” and “beware” written on it resting on the east side of Metcalf Street near the curb. The bomb squad was called in to investigate the package. They discovered it was a fake and released it to the officers on scene, said Sgt. Jason Warren.

He said the package will be processed by evidence technicians.
