April 10

Dakota J. Valdez, 20, 911 Washington Ave., Defiance, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamines), possession of drugs (oxycodone) and illegal assembly of possession chemicals for manufacture of drugs. He faces up 9 years in prison and $30,000 in fines. Bond was revoked while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 1:45 p.m. May 17.

According to reports of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, officers stopped a vehicle at 1:53 a.m. Oct. 15 that looked suspicious. The K-9 unit was called to the scene, and K-9 Nero detected the presence of a narcotic odor while performing a free air sniff around the vehicle, and Valdez, gave consent to search the vehicle. Items found in the car included 39.6 grams of cocaine, 10.6 grams of methamphetamine, 6.4 grams of crack cocaine, 19.5 grams of marijuana, 49 tablets of 30-gram Oxycodone, drug paraphernalia, meth lab supplies, a large sum of cash and a loaded firearm.

April 13

Tracey D. Smith, 37, 624 Walnut St., Oakwood, was sentenced to 30 days jail for two counts possession of drugs (heroin). He was placed on three years community control for each count and was given credit for one day credit served. He must have only one medical provider and one pharmacy, attend AA and or NA meetings and continue treatment at Westwood Behavioral Center.

April 14

Jorge Roman Sr., 39, 13000 Box Road, Grand Rapids, was sentenced to 30 days in jail for failing to pay child support. The sentence was suspended on condition he remain current in his payments and seek work.

April 17

Jennifer J. Gillette, 26, 520 S. Walnut St., Ottawa, was placed on three years community control for violating the terms of supervision. The violations include using heroin and possessing drug abuse instruments in Allen County on Jan. 23, 2017. She must pay restitution in the amount of $1,500 with co-defendants, continue treatment at Pathways Counseling, obtain employment, not consume alcohol and undergo drug and alcohol use monitoring. Gillette was originally convicted of receiving stolen property and burglary.

Union Bank Co., Columbus Grove, was granted a foreclosure judgment against Harold C. Kahle, Cloverdale, in the amount of $117,150.93, plus interest and costs.

Diane J. Bishop was appointed trustee for Putnam County Free Public Library to a term to expire Dec. 31, 2023. The judge of the Putnam County Common Pleas Court appoints three of the seven board members that serves on the library board.

April 18

Selena C. Chasco, 21, 220 S. Main St., Apt. A, Leipsic, pleaded guilty to felonious assault. She faces up to eight years in prison and $15,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 3 p.m. May 17. A charge of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) was dismissed.

Matthew A. Wright, 37, 100 Poplar St., North Baltimore, pleaded guilty to domestic violence one prior. He faces up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 2 p.m. May 15.

April 20

Scott J. Miller, 52, 937 Washington St., Defiance, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamines), six months for defacing identification marks of firearm and 30 months for having weapons under disability. He was given credit for 72 days served. Charges of possession of drugs (oxycodone), possession of drugs (amphetamine), possession of drugs (clonazepam), possession of a dangerous drug, speeding and driving under financial responsibility law were dismissed. He was also sentenced to 12 months in prison for aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamines). He was given credit for 72 days served and the sentence was ordered to be served concurrent. Charges of driving under FRA suspension and stop signs were dismissed. The $810 in cash seized shall be forfeited to the MAN unit.

Ty A. Castillo, 26, 519 Ohio St., Leipsic, was sentenced to 15 days jail for violating the terms of supervision. The violations include using cocaine and marijuana in Ottawa, attempting to alter a urine drug test on Feb. 7, 2017, and changing his address Jan. 25, 2017 without permission. He was given credit for three days served and placed on two years community control. He must continue to undergo treatment at Pathways Counseling Center and continue to undergo random drug testing. He was originally convicted of possession of drugs (cocaine).

Putnam County Municipal Court dispositions

April 11

Shane C. Lawhorn, 28, 10397 Road 23J, Cloverdale, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless operation. Sentence: $150 fine. He was also fined $150 for seat belt driver. Charges of OVI with refusal, turning at intersection and headlights required were dismissed.

April 13

Justin J. Fulmer, 30, 509 W. Main St., Leipsic, pleaded no contest to possession of marijuana and was found guilty. Sentence: $150 fine and six-month license suspension. He was also fined $150 for FRA suspension.

Patricia A. Schnipke, 53, 8489 Road 11, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless operation. Sentence: $150 fine. A charge of improper parking was dismissed.

Dale E. Collins, 45, 107½ Truax Road, Cloverdale, charged with drug abuse/possession, a felony, bound over to common pleas court.

April 20

Ricardo J. Olvera, 33, 2168 Royal Oak Ave., Defiance, pleaded no contest to drug abuse/possession and was found guilty. Sentence: $150 fine and six-month license suspension. He also fined $150 for drug paraphernalia.
