Man freed from grain bin in Van Wert unhurt

VAN WERT — Firefighters rescued a man Monday afternoon who was stuck in a grain bin.

The name of the man was not available but Van Wert Fire Department Capt. Dave Cummings said he was not seriously injured and did not have to go to the hospital.

The call came in at 1:23 p.m. Monday of a man trapped inside a grain bin at 6857 Gilliland Road outside of Van Wert. Firefighters worked for two hours to free the man, Cummings said.

The Van Wert County Auditor’s Office lists the home owned by John S. and Diane Jackson.
