Hardin sheriff: No evidence at 1994 arson site; case closed

ROUNDHEAD — The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office wrapped up its investigation on a 1994 arson and possible homicide site, saying it found no new evidence at the excavation site.

The Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant Monday based on information gathered concerning an arson fire and possible homicide at 16079 state Route 117 in Roundhead Township back in 1994.

Sheriff’s detectives, Bureau of Criminal Investigation workers and Hardin County Prosecutor’s Office investigators excavated and sifted through the site and couldn’t find any new evidence, Sheriff Keith Everhart said in a released statement.

With no evidence located, the case is now closed, Everhart said.

Everhart clarified the residents at the address are not now nor were they ever suspects in the investigation, and he thanked them for their cooperation.
