Lima City council sets busy Monday meeting

LIMA — Lima City Council will take up an ordinance at its meeting Monday night to assess demolition costs to owners of properties deemed as dangerous structures.

The council also will consider an ordinance levying special assessments for property maintenance code charges.

The mayor is asking the council to approve a contract with Quality Coating for priming and painting at the Central Services building on South Collett Street up to $15,880.

Lima Finance Director Steve Cleaves will issue a mid-year financial review and Lee Ann Shade and Diane Fowler will issue a crime-prevention update.

Health Partners of Western Ohio is requesting the council vacate an alley at 329 N. West St. The group reports it is the only one that really uses the alley.

The council also will consider an ordinance concerning fences and other barriers for swimming pools, spas and hot tubs. The law originally was part of the Ohio Residential Code but was removed to allow enforcement to be done by cities and local municipalities.

Fences or other barriers to swimming pools or other pools of water are designed to protect from accidental drownings by restricting access. The law typically requires access to be blocked completely around a pool, hot tub or spa.

The law requires the fence or barrier to be at least 4 feet tall.
