OVI checkpoint planned for Friday in Allen County

LIMA — The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold a checkpoint Friday to take drunken drivers off the roads as well as educate motorists in Allen County.

There were 316 impaired driver fatal crashes in Ohio last year with 346 people killed. State troopers make an average of 25,000 impaired driver arrests annually, the patrol reported.

The checkpoints are designed to deter drunken driving and to remove dangerous drunken drivers from the road.

The location of the checkpoint will be released Friday morning.
