No-Till Field Day to be held in Kenton

KENTON — The Ohio State University Extension office of Hardin County, in conjunction with the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and other sponsors, will host “Ohio No-Till Summer Field Day” on Aug. 31 at Jan Layman Farm, 15238 Township Road 119. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the program will start at 8:45 a.m.

According to a press release, several sessions at the Field Day will address the use of cover crops in no-till systems. Participants will also be able to compare different types of cover crops planted after the wheat harvest earlier this summer.

Other items on the agenda include a water management and water quality update from the USDA, and a discussion on the “economics of resilience,” which will be presented by a no-till farmer from Indiana.

The event costs $40, and early registration is due by Monday. On-site registration is $60. Register by visiting ohionotillcouncil.com.
