LIMA — The trial for a man arrested in a large heroin bust was pushed back Monday to Dec. 13 to give his attorney more time to prepare.
Anthony Duvernay, 39, of Lima, is charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin, and illegal manufacture of drugs. He is accused of bringing in drugs from out of state.
Duvernay has a new attorney he hired in May and there is a lot of evidence to go over, which led his attorney, Stevin Groth, of Toledo, to ask for more time. Duvernay said he wanted his attorney to have more time to prepare his case.
Police arrested Duvernay and Marvin Thomas, 45, of Lima, in October and seized 4.4 pounds of heroin with an estimated street value of $330,000. Thomas has been convicted and is serving 23 years in prison.
