OVI checkpoint planned on state Route 118 in Van Wert County tonight

VAN WERT — The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that its checkpoint for operating a vehicle while intoxicated will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today on state Route 118 in Van Wert County. It will be held in conjunction with the Van Wert Police Department.

The checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The checkpoint works with nearby “saturation patrols” to combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes.

The office reminds people planning to drink to find a designated driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink.
