Michigan man indicted in Bluffton robbery

BLUFFTON — A Michigan man was indicted this week in connection with the armed robbery of the Circle K store in Bluffton in April, Bluffton Police Chief Rick Skilliter said Thursday.

Eric J. Auchmuty, 31, of Eastpoint, Mich., was indicted this week on the charge of aggravated robbery by a Hancock County grand jury.

The store on Commerce Lane in Bluffton was robbed April 5. Bluffton Police put out information on the robbery shortly after it occurred, and a Putnam County dispatcher recognized the notice matched a similar alert from Michigan authorities who were investigating a robbery, Skilliter said.

An investigation with multiple agencies, including police in St. Clair Shores, Mich., led to the identification of a suspect, Skilliter said.
