Three Lima men arrested following shots fired

LIMA — Police arrested three men after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the 200 block of West Grand Avenue.

Arrested were Jaiquavius Carter, 19, Trey Ackles, 20, and Seyoum Lawrence, 21, all of Lima. They are being held on suspicion of felonious assault, the Lima Police Department reported.

Two people were seen leaving the area about 4:30 p.m. after one or more of them fired shots at people walking in the area. None of the pedestrians were hit, Lima police reported.

The suspects fled to a home, and police were able to identify two of them just after the incident. Police served a search warrant on the home at 128 W. McKibben St., and arrested the three, according to LPD.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Police also are looking into whether Wednesday’s shooting was connected to a shooting the day before at 128 W. McKibben St., where police served the warrant after Wednesday’s shooting.

At 10:48 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the area near the McKibben Street home over shots fired. Officers determined someone fired shots at the house, striking it multiple times and a car in the driveway, Lt. Andy Green of the police department said.

No one was struck in Tuesday’s shooting, he said.

Ackles and Carter are not concealed carriers; they are not old enough. Neither is Lawrence, who has a felony record which prevents him from obtaining a license to carry a concealed gun, according to Allen County sheriff and court records.
