Elida schools seeking superintendent

ELIDA — The Allen County Educational Service Center is assisting Elida schools in its search for a new superintendent for the 2016-17 school year. Presently, Joel Hatfield is serving as the interim superintendent. The employment of the selected candidate will begin Aug. 1.

The Elida Board of Education seeks an individual with a broad educational background, proven leadership, commitment to the highest personal and professional standard and an excellent communicator, according to a news release.

Applications of qualified candidates are due Oct. 30. Brochures, application and other information are available on the Allen County ESC website at http://allencountyesc.org.

Executive to give leadership presentation

FINDLAY — Mary Anne Rohleder, a 1970 University of Findlay alumnus who has been chosen as the fall semester visiting executive for the College of Business, will give a free community lecture on leadership at noon Monday in Old Main’s Ritz Auditorium.

Rohleder’s speech is titled “Developing Your Leadership Styles.” She will integrate stories from a career in sports management that will pervade all disciplines. As a visiting executive, she will also engage with students enrolled in two sport and event management classes, and will address student athletes.

UNOH launches new website

LIMA — The University of Northwestern Ohio has launched a new website featuring improved navigation and better alignment with the university’s brand profile, a news release stated. The website redesign, http://unoh.edu, is meant to strengthen UNOH’s online presence.

According to the news release, it is a “marked improvement in appearance, navigability and functionality of the website, specifically on all mobile devices.”

Young Entrepreneurs Academy accepting applications

LIMA — The Young Entrepreneurs Academy is now accepting applications for fall classes for students ages 11 to 18 who are interested in launching their own, real businesses.

YEA is an enrichment program meant to transform local middle and high school students into real, confident entrepreneurs. Through its 30-week hands-on classes, students in grades 6 to 12 generate business ideas, conduct market research, write business plans, pitch to a panel of investors and launch fully formed businesses from the ground up, with instruction and inspiration from local teachers and business leaders.

For Lima-area students, the academy begins Nov. 3 at the University of Northwestern Ohio. Students and parents can visit http://yeausa.org to select a nearby academy location and to apply by Sept. 25.

North to host Grandparents Day luncheon

LIMA — Lima North Middle School will continue its tradition of honoring grandparents and holding a special luncheon in their honor Friday in the school gymnasium.

Grandparents of North students will be treated to live music, warm apple cider, fall spice cake and door prizes. Grandparents will get a photo taken with their grandchild that will be displayed on a bulletin board.

Lunch at North is from 10:44 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Grandparents should check with their student to see when they eat lunch. Lunch can be purchased for $2.50 without milk or $2.75 with milk.

College Night planned

VAN WERT — The Van Wert County/City guidance counselors are sponsoring a College Night to be held at Vantage Career Center from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

This is a cooperative project of the guidance counselors from Crestview, Lincolnview, Vantage and Van Wert schools. It is an open forum that assists students and parents in collecting information concerning admission requirements, various courses of study, application procedures and financial aid. College representatives will be available to answer any questions.

Juniors and seniors, as well as their parents, are invited to attend this event. Local school guidance counselors will be in attendance to answer any questions that may come up. Any questions regarding this event may be directed to the school counselor at your school.
