Putnam County Common Pleas Court

Aug. 4

Matthew R. Stateler, 34, Putnam County Jail, pleaded guilty to attempted felonious assault, aggravated menacing, harassment with bodily substance and retaliation. He faces up to 54 months in prison and $13,500 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 11 a.m. Sept. 11. Charges of domestic violence, criminal damaging/endangering were dismissed. Stateler was accused of making threats against Putnam County Common Pleas Judge Randall Basinger when deputies were escorting him back to jail on May 20. He also is accused of spitting on a deputy after being placed in a restraint chair at the jail. Retired Hardin County Common Pleas Court Judge David Faulkner was assigned to hear the case.

Aug. 6

Catherine E. Wilson, 27, 435 E. McKibben St., Lima, was sentenced to 36 months in prison for a probation violation. The violation included leaving the state without permission. Wilson, who was originally convicted of burglary, was given credit for 156 days served. Wilson fled to Florida after her car was involved in a motorcycle crash that killed Aaron Ehrnsberger, 27, of Lima, on May 31. Wilson, the owner of the car, told investigators she was a passenger in the car and another person was the driver who ran into Ehrnsberger. Wilson also has a probation violation pending in Allen County in a 2013 case in which she pleaded guilty to trafficking in heroin and is facing a prison sentence in that case.

Donald E. Schulte, 20, 5979 Road 18, Continental, pleaded guilty to illegal assembly chemicals for manufacture of drugs. He faces up to 36 months in prison, up to $10,000 in fines and six months to five years license suspension. Bond was continued while a presentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27.

Sara L. Vasko, 27, 102 Wilson St., Archbold, was sentenced to eight days in jail for violating the terms of supervision. The violations included possessing heroin on June 14 and failing to make any payments toward her court financial obligations since May 23, 2014. All but two days of the jail was suspended.

Aug. 7

Melody R. Leap, 1217 E. Second St., Ottawa, was sentenced to three days jail for failure to pay marital debt obligations. The jail was suspended provided she pay $4,000 toward the settlement and use her 2015 income tax refund for the debt.

Aug. 11

Chace D. Keiser, 24, 424 S. Walnut St., Ottawa, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering. He faces up to 12 months in prison and $2,500 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 2 p.m. Sept. 14. Two theft charges were dismissed.

Garrod L. Dangler, 36, 445 S. Oak St., Ottawa, pleaded guilty to attempt failure to verify. He faces up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 9 a.m. Sept. 10.

Todd A. Benroth, 43, 15900 Road 14, Columbus Grove, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. He faces up to 30 months in prison, $10,500 in fines, and license suspension of three years to life. Bond was continued while a pre-sentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 11:30 a.m. Sept. 2. Charges of driving under suspension and operating a vehicle without reasonable control were dismissed.

Aug. 6

Stacey L. Gossard, 39, 625 Cherry St., Findlay, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second-offense reckless operation. Sentence: 30 days jail, 27 days suspended, $250 fine, with credit for three days jail upon completion of DIP. Gossard also pleaded guilty to marijuana. Sentence: Six-month license suspension, $150 fine. A charge of drug paraphernalia was dismissed.

Aug. 10

Jeannette C. Hoehn, 42, 533 S. Chestnut, Van Wert, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of reckless operation. Sentence: $150 fine.

Stacy L. Deters, 27, 405 W. Sycamore St., Apt. G, Columbus Grove, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 170 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, two year license suspension, with credit for six days jail upon completion of DIP.
