Potts Center grant winners announced

LIMA — The Walter C. Potts Entrepreneur Center announced that five small and minority businesses located in Lima/Allen County have been selected to receive grant funding. Each company received funds in the amount of $500 to be used for the purchase of goods and services that they submitted as being essential to help grow and sustain their business.

Altrusa International of Lima celebrates 70th year

LIMA — Altrusa International of Lima is celebrating its 70th year of service. The international organization began a Lima chapter in 1952. The non-profit organization focuses on helping communities. According to a recent press release, Altrusa of Lima was awarded a grant from the Altrusa International Foundation. The organization will use the grant to fill the Lima City School book vending machine. In the years to come, Altrusa plans to give back through leadership, partnership and service.

LIMA — The West Ohio Community Action Partnership Home Energy Assistance Crisis Program is now available for community members in need of assistance. The program is open from Nov. 1 until March 31.

Low-Income Water Assistance Program applications available

LIMA — The West Ohio Community Action Partnership has partnered with the Ohio Department of Development to help community members in need. The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program will assist Ohioans with their water and wastewater bill. The program will be open until Sept. 30.

Youth group hosts shoe drive fundraiser

VAN WERT— First United Methodist Church Youth Group is now receiving shoe donations for a mission trip fundraiser until Jan. 7. The Funds2Orgs organization will provide a check based on the weight of the shoes collected to the youth group. The funding will help students raise money for their mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

Students make sleigh

VAN WERT — Carpentry students at Vantage Career Center used their skills to spread holiday magic and cheer for the annual Christmas at Fountain Park event held in Van Wert. The idea of adding a sleigh to the already merry and bright scene at Fountain Park originated from the Christmas committee.
