Beatles ‘Mystery’ concert takes stage Friday

LIMA — The Beatles and their music live on, especially this weekend in Lima.

The Lima Symphony Orchestra hosts the New Year’s Eve Pops Beatles Classical Mystery Tour at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, located at 7 Town Square.

The concert spotlights the Fab Four’s legacy with reproductions of approximately 24 of their biggest hits performed by the LSO, for which Andrew Crust serves as the conductor.

“It’s our largest Pops concert of the season and always a tremendous amount of fun,” said Elizabeth Brown-Ellis, executive director of LSO.

She asserted the orchestra is especially eager to work with Classical Mystery Tour to bring The Beatles music to life. It includes many of the band’s classics with the “lushness” of a full orchestra.

“From the sound to the costumes and hairstyles, you will think you’ve gone back in time,” Brown-Ellis said.

Classical Mystery Tour band members and their instruments are as follows: Jim Owen on rhythm guitar, vocals and piano; Tony Kishman on bass guitar, vocals and piano; Chris Camilleri on drums and vocals; plus Tom Teeley on lead guitar and vocals.

The international Classical Mystery Tour has been in the limelight for 22 years. For more details about the tour and its participants, visit classicalmysterytour.com.

“It is without question the best and most authentic Beatles show with a symphony orchestra, and it’s a thrill to bring them to Lima at long last,” she said.

Tickets, which cost $30 apiece, can be purchased online at www.limasymphony.com or by calling 419-222-5701.
