Mercy Health brings Wexner’s transplant clinic to Lima

LIMA — Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center will open a new transplant clinic with The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center later this year.

The clinic will give patients in Lima access to pre-transplant evaluations and education, starting with kidney and liver transplant patients and later including heart and lung patients. Surgery and specialized testing will continue in Columbus.

“Prior to the clinic’s opening, potential transplant patients and their family members needed to travel outside of the community for transplant care,” Mercy Health-Lima President Ronda Lehman said. “It is of great benefit to Mercy Health providers and patients to have enhanced access to one of the nation’s premier transplant centers, close to home.”

This is the second collaboration between The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and Mercy Health, which last year affiliated with The James Cancer Network and is part of the two hospital systems’ Healthy State Alliance to improve the health of Ohio’s communities.
