Jury selection begins Monday in murder case of Lima man

LIMA — Jury selection is scheduled to get underway Monday in Allen County Common Pleas Court for one of two Lima men charged in the shooting death of Branson Tucker nearly a year ago.

Kenneth L. Cobb, the alleged gunman in Tucker’s death, is charged with murder with a firearm specification and having weapons while under disability. Jurors are to report to court at 8:45 a.m. for jury selection.

Jerome Fuqua has also been charged in Tucker’s murder.

Cobb and Fuqua were taken into custody on Jan. 16, 2019, one day after Tucker was found dead inside a vehicle that had been involved in an early-morning traffic accident in the 600 block of Michael Avenue. Tucker was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso and died later that morning at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center.

According to court documents, detectives learned the shooting occurred inside a structure at 975 St. Johns Ave., Lima, that was believed to be an after-hours establishment as well as Fuqua’s residence.
