LIMA — Jimmy John’s has opened a second sandwich shop in Lima, this one on Lima’s east end just off Interstate 75.
The fast-casual sandwich franchise, known for its fresh subs and quick delivery service, formally opened its 1570 Harding Highway store last Thursday.
Brandon Stewart, owner of the Cable Road and Harding Highway restaurants, said business at the franchise’s first Jimmy John’s restaurant in Lima has gone well. But customers on the city’s east side were too far away for delivery, which is restricted to customers within a five-minute drive to make good on the franchise’s promise of “freaky fast” delivery.
“We can hit more customers within our delivery area,” Stewart said.
Harding Highway’s proximity to I-75 made it an ideal location for Stewart to open his new store, which was built near the Holiday Inn and Arby’s in place of an old Shell gas station.
The store is part of the Kensington Hill Capital franchise, which owns 58 Jimmy John’s stores nationwide, including the Cable Road store in Lima.
Stewart plans to hire about 30 employees for the Harding Highway restaurant, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
