NEW BREMEN — A company that makes desserts in New Bremen has been recognized by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

Husted featured The Pie Shell, and other businesses in the state, as one of his “Patriotic Businesses” this month, according to a release from his office.

The selected businesses make “popular products Ohioans use while celebrating American independence on the Fourth of July and other national occasions,” according to the release.

“On the Fourth of July, we have the opportunity to eat some good food, connect with family and friends and celebrate the best parts of our culture and communities while expressing our pride in America,” Husted said in a statement. “From American flags and fireworks to kites and homemade pies, the businesses we are highlighting this month supply Ohioans with everything they need to celebrate an all-American holiday.”

The feature reads that the Pie Shell has “been a small town bakery since 2005 and has grown to be the supplier of homemade pies, cheesecakes, cupcakes and other sweet treats to a number of local grocery stores. Their mouthwatering deserts are made from scratch and have become a staple in West Central Ohio.”

WSU offers business classes

CELINA — Wright State University-Lake Campus Business Enterprise Center is offering more classes for the month of July.

The company invested in several northern Ohio counties, including Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert, according to a release from the company.

“4G LTE and XLTE are changing the way customers interact with the world via next-generation apps, devices and solutions—things we couldn’t have imagined a few years ago,” Mark Frazier, president of the Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region of Verizon Wireless, said in a statement. “By continuing to invest in wireless broadband in Northern Ohio, we’re investing in local communities and economies where our customers live, work and play.”
