Ohio Theatre to present ‘Spaghetti Murders’

6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday

The Avant Garage Theatre Company will perform “The Great Spaghetti Murders” starting May 9 and running May 10, 17, 18, 30 and 31 and June 1, 6, 7 and 8 at the Ohio Theatre, 122 W. North St., Lima.

The murder mystery will be the theatre’s next dinner show. All showtimes will be at 6:30 p.m.

Poetry Slam set for May

7 p.m. Friday

The Lima Land Poetry Slam will return for its May show at 7 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Vibe Coffeehouse and Cafe at 311 E. Market St. in Lima.

Anyone interested in performing poetry, spoken word or music routines can sign up at the event or enjoy other acts for free.

Performances start at 7:30 p.m. and organizers accept suggested $5 donations.

Encore to perform ‘Play That Goes Wrong’

8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday

“The Play That Goes Wrong” will premier at 8 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Encore Theater at 991 N. Shore Drive in Lima.

Other shows at 8 and 2 p.m. will follow Saturday and Sunday, respectively, as well as showings the next weekend.

Tickets for the play, about a drama society’s disastrous opening night performance, are on sale at amiltellers.org.

Lima Area Concert Band to perform

7:30 p.m. Saturday

The Lima Area Concert Band will perform “The Beat Goes on” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima.

The band’s first show of the season will feature a new tympani and musician Dane Newlove.

Tickets are $15 and students get in free.

Broke-Ass Theatre to present ‘The Christians’

6 p.m. Saturday

Local theatre troupe Broke-Ass Theatre will perform “The Christians” starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at the Zion Lutheran Church at 1300 Edgewood Drive in Lima.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the staged reading about a pastor set to give a sermon to his church.

Admission is free.

Awesome African Fashion Show: 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center in Lima. The second annual Awesome African Fashion Show will open at 5 p.m. and start at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lima Civic Center at 7 Town Square in Lima. Tickets are $20 for anyone 13 and older. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Big Bowling Bingo Fundraiser: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Westgate Entertainment Center in Lima. Anyone interested in supporting educators can go to the second annual Teachers Appreciation Banquet featuring Big Bowling Bingo from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Westgate Entertainment Center at 721 N. Cable Road. Tickets will be $10 per person or $30 for a group of six.

Mother’s Day Sip and Shop: 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at LACNIP Resource Center in Lima. The Mother’s Day Sip and Shop will start at 2 p.m. Saturday at the LACNIP Resource Center at 1440 W. Spring St. in Lima. Anyone interested in enjoying vendors, food and drinks can attend the event for free.
