LIMA — The Lima schools Board of Education met Thursday to appoint Darnell Collins as Lima Senior High School’s next principal.

Collins is currently principal at Lima Senior Alternative High School. He will succeed Tyler Turner as principal of Lima Senior at the end of the school year.

Collins started as an in-school suspension instructor for Lima schools in 1997, according to a press release from Lima schools.

The Lima Senior and Jackson State University graduate taught math for Lima schools from 2001 to 2011, when he joined the administration as assistant principal at West Middle School.

Collins has been principal at the alternative high school since 2017.

He earned his master’s degree in education, as well as his principal and superintendent licenses, from the University of Dayton.
