Man shot after altercation at family gathering in Lima

LIMA — A man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting Sunday morning at a family gathering in Lima.

The Lima Police Department received a 911 call just before 3 a.m. Sunday after a shooting at a residence in the 1000 block of North McDonel Street, Lima, according to a press release from LPD Detective Steve Stechschulte. The caller said a verbal altercation at a family gathering turned physical, then shots were fired.

Both the victim and suspected parties left the residence shortly after the shooting.

One man was struck by a bullet and needed medical treatment. Family transported him to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police held another man at the Allen County Jail on suspicioun of felonious assault.

The incident remains under investigation. Police declined to identify the victim or the suspected shooter at this time.
