Flooding could continue in Putnam County through Saturday

OTTAWA — Flooding in the area appears to have reached its crest, but recent rains could leave people dealing with flooding through Saturday morning, according to data from the National Weather Service.

The Blanchard River in Ottawa was at 24.42 feet Thursday morning, which could be its crest for this round of flooding, at nearly 1 1/2 feet above the minor flooding stage of 30. It’s expected to dip below 23 feet by 2 p.m. Friday and below the action stage of 20 feet by 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Auglaize River in Fort Jennings was estimated at 16.2 feet Wednesday night. It should fall below its flood stage of 16 feet Thursday afternoon.

The Ottawa River near Kalida crested at 18.77 feet at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, falling just short of the minor flood stage of 19 feet. It should drop belong the action stage of 16 feet by 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Ottawa River in Lima crested at 17.42 feet at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, its highest level since May 2021, which would make it the fifth-highest level since 2010.

There’s a slight chance of rain or snow today, followed by a chance of showers, with a high of 44 degrees Fahrenheit. Overnight, there’s a chance of shower with a predicted low of 33.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reporter high water on Road M-17 between U.S. 224 and Road 19.

• Road C between Road 22 and Road 23 closed due to flooding

• Road R between state Route 115 and Road 16-0 is closed due to flooding

• Road 16-0 between state Route 115 and Road P is closed due to flooding

• Road 19 between Road B and Road C is closed due to flooding

• Road D between state Route 15 and Road 20 due to due to flooding

• Road 19 between Road B-13 and Road B due to flooding

• Road I-9 between state Route 15 and Glandorf Corp Limits due to flooding

• Road M-17 closed between Road 19 and Road 20 due to flooding

• Road 20-P closed between Road P and Road Q due to flooding

• Old U.S. 224 between Road 2 and Road 1 closed due to high water

• Road R-17 closed between Road 16-0 and Road 18-

• R Road 1 closed due to high water from US 224 south to Hancock Road 20

• Maple Street between Second Street and Main Street and Second Street to Perry Street, Ottawa, due to high water

• State Route 634 between state Route 613 and state Route 114 is closed due to flooding

• State Route 190 between U.S. 224 and Fort Jennings is closed due to flooding

• Road 15 between Road H-13 and Road 1-14 is closed due to flooding

• State Route 114 between state Route 694 and Road 21 is closed due to flooding
