Flood warning issued in region

LIMA — The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for much of the region.

The Auglaize River could flood near Fort Jennings, affecting Allen and Putnam counties. Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage Tuesday evening to a crest of 15.2 feet Wednesday morning, then fall below flood stage Thursday morning.

The Blanchard River could floor at Ottawa, affecting Putnam County. Minor flooding is forecast. The river was at 9.1 feet at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. It is expected to rise above the flood stage Tuesday evening and crest at 10.5 feet Wednesday morning, just above the flood stage of 10 feet. It should fall below flood stage Wednesday evening.

Authorities warn if you encounter flooded roads, turn around, as most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Water may be deeper than it appears.

Rain is expected continued through Thursday, with a chance of snow flurries Wednesday night and Thursday morning. While Tuesday’s high is 64 degrees Fahrenheit, temperatures are expected to drop, with a high of 46 Wednesday, 44 Thursday and 46 Friday.
