LIMA — An Elida attorney has been permanently disbarred by the Ohio Supreme Court, effectively preventing her from ever again practicing law in the state.
Amber Goodman, 35, was convicted in 2022 on one count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor in Senaca County. The Ohio Supreme Court at that time suspended her license to practice law on an interim basis.
Goodman served eight months of a 30-month sentence and is currently on supervised release. She is classified as a Tier II sex offender. As such she must register with local authorities every six months for 25 years.
Court records reveal that over a period of four to six months in 2019, Goodman “actively and fully participated in the repeated rape of a 13-year-old child, engaging in sexual conduct with the victim while the child’s father alternated having sexual intercourse with each of them.”
A three-member panel of the Board of Professional Conduct subsequently found Goodman had committed professional misconduct and recommended an indefinite suspension of her license.
The Supreme Court rejected that recommended sanction, writing in an opinion released this week, that “after a thorough review of the record and our precedent, we conclude that the only appropriate sanction for Goodman’s misconduct is permanent disbarment.”
