Boys Basketball: White, Elwer get Player of Year honors on All-NW Ohio team

Ottawa-Glandorf’s Colin White and Delphos St. John’s Cameron Elwer received Player of the Year honors on the Ohio Prep Sportswriters 2024 All-Northwest Ohio Boys basketball team, which was announced on Wednesday.

White, an Ohio State recruit, is the Division III Player of the Year. The 6-6 guard/forward averaged 24 points and 8 rebounds a game this season. He is the career scoring leader at Ottawa-Glandorf and the all-time scoring leader in Putnam County.

Elwer, a 6-1 sophomore guard, is one of three players voted Division IV Player of the Year. He averaged 28 points a game, shot 62 percent on field goals, 57 percent on 3-pointers, and 87 percent on free throws. He went over 1,000 points in the 41st game of his career earlier this year.

Shawnee’s Beckett Bertke and St. Marys’ Evan Angstmann are on the Division II first team. Bertke, a 6-5 sophomore, averaged 22 points and 8 rebounds. Angstman, a 6-7 senior, scored 21 points a game and set a St. Marys school record for most 3-pointers in a season.

Lima Central Catholic’s Jordan Priddy, Pandora-Gilboa’s Aiden Harris, and Crestview’s Wren Sheets joined Elwer on the Division IV first team.

Priddy, a 6-2 sophomore, led LCC in scoring at 16 points a game and shot 41 percent on 3-pointers. Harris, a 6-4 senior, scored 18.9 points a game and pulled down six rebounds a game. Sheets, a 6-6 junior, averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds a game.

Delphos St. John’s coach Aaron Elwer shared the Division IV Coach of the Year award with three other coaches.

Area players on the second team are: Lima Senior’s Shawn Foster in Division I; Ottawa-Glandorf’s Caden Erford, Bluffton’s Marek Donaldson, Spencerville’s Carter Sudhoff and Allen East’s Carson Clum in Division III; and Upper Scioto Valley’s Alex Sanders and Fort Jennings’ Jarron Swick in Division IV.

Area players on the third team are: Lima Senior’s Jagger Hutchins in Division I; Elida’s Zori Island and St. Marys’ Jace Turner in Division II; Spencerville’s Owen Sensabaugh and Columbus Grove’s Trenton Barraza in Division III; and Lima Central Catholic’s Willie Foster in Division IV.
