March 4

Jason L. Burleson, 41, Ottawa, was sentenced to 90 days in jail on a charge of assault. He was given credit for three days served and placed on five years community control. He must complete a substance abuse and anger management program with an approved agency and obtain and maintain employment. Two counts of felonious assault were dismissed.

Sparkle S. McGuire, 26, Dayton, was sentenced to 180 days in jail for carrying a concealed weapon. She was given credit for 10 days jail with the rest of the sentence suspended. She must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all counseling and treatment recommended. The firearms seized in the within action will be forfeited to the arresting agency. McGuire was charged along with William J. Brown, 38, Dayton, and Gregory A. Preston, 32, Cincinnati in connection to a drug bust in Fort Jennings. According to court records, the three were accused of transporting nearly 200 grams of methamphetamine to a residence on North Water Street in Fort Jennings on Aug. 4. Brown and Preston were sentenced to a minimum of six years and a maximum of nine years in prison for aggravated trafficking in drugs.

Angela Ankney, 46, Sherwood, was sentenced to 18 months in jail for violating community control sanctions. The violations included using methamphetamines and failing to comply with drug and alcohol assessment and treatment. She was placed on five years community control and was given credit for 262 days served. She was originally charged with tampering with evidence.

March 5

Elijah J. Hovest, 33, Pandora, was placed on five years community control for improper handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a felony, and sentenced to three days jail for physical control, a misdemeanor, and fined $400. He was given credit for three days jail upon completion of intervention class and his license was suspended for six months. Two counts of felonious assault were dismissed. Charges of having weapons under disability, two counts improper handling firearms in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol were dismissed.

Feb. 23

Jacob J. Gallegos, 37, Cridersville, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of unlawful restraint. Sentence: 60 days jail, 50 days suspended, $150 fine, with credit for one day served with no contact with victim or her minor children for two years. A charge of assault were dismissed.

Feb. 29

Garry S. Fife, Jr., 44, Kalida, charged with domestic violence, a felony, bound over to common pleas court.

Anthony P. Davis, 36, Lima, was fined $100 for driving under FRA/non compliance.

March 4

Virgil J. Hull, 30, Cloverdale, pleaded guilty to OVI. Sentence: Six points, 180 days jail, 164 days suspended, $750 fine, $375 suspended, two-year license suspension with credit for six days jail upon completion of DIP. He was fined $250 for an amended charge of obstruction of official business. Charges of reckless operation and failure to control were dismissed.

March 5

Jonathan T. Spikes, 39, Ottawa, was fined $150 for driving without a valid license.

March 7

Jerry R. Thomas, 38, Rudolph, was fined $150 for driving under suspension child support.
