Woman found dead in American Township home

AMERICAN TOWNSHIP — Authorities are looking for information about an unidentified woman found dead in a Makley Drive home on Sunday afternoon from what appeared to be foul play.

According to a press release from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call at 2:10 p.m. Sunday about a woman needing medical care at 2982 Makley Drive, Lima, from a caller speaking limited English.

When they arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman lying unresponsive in bed within a bedroom. The American Township Fire Department arrived and checked for signs of life before pronouncing her dead at the scene. Detectives at the scene “observed evidence that led them to suspect foul play,” according to the press release from Major Andre McConnahea, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

“The victim is not believed to be a citizen of the United States, and detectives are currently working to identify next of kin,” McConnahea wrote.

Anyone with information should call Detective Kayla Rayl at 419-227-3535 or email [email protected]. Anonymous tips will be accepted through Crime Stoppers by calling 419-229-STOP (7867).

McConnahea said several people were brought into the sheriff’s office for questioning but were released without charges filed at this time.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification were on the scene to assist, and the woman’s body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

The property is owned by K&N Investments & Consulting Inc., of Cypress, Texas.
