Women learn from others in business

LIMA — Women in business gathered Saturday afternoon to celebrate one another and network. The ‘Baddies in Business’ held its first annual event at the Veteran’s Memorial Civic Center to connect the community with local resources.

“The Baddie Bash is just a way to connect entrepreneurs within our city and our county,” organizer Meagan Horton said. “We have a group of panelists who will be answering questions about how to juggle being a mom and an entrepreneur. They will also discuss how they picked their target audience and their entrepreneurship.”

The speakers included Brandi Freeman, Jessica Wright, Monica Patrick, Nyla Cannon, Aretha Glenn and Tarah Carter.

“I hope they (attendees) inspire each other just by their conversations and bounce ideas off of each other,” Horton said. “I hope they all eventually work together.”

Community member Kim Parks joined the gathering to engage with the community and inspire her granddaughter who wants to start a business.

“There are women here who already have businesses and women who would like to start a business,” Park said. “A lot of times you need a mentor to know where to start.”
