Delphos Jefferson’s Lyv Lindeman is the Division III Player of the Year and Crestview’s Cali Gregory is the Division IV Co-Player of the Year on the 2024 Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association All-Northwest Ohio girls basketball team, which was announced Wednesday.
Lindeman, a 5-7 senior guard, averaged 24 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.8 steals this season and is the career scoring leader for the Wildcats (21-4). Jefferson won or shared four Northwest Conference championships and had 20 or more wins during her four years as a starter. She has signed with Tiffin University.
Gregory, a 5-10 senior guard/forward, averaged 19.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.0 steals this season when Crestview (24-2) shared the NWC title with Delphos Jefferson. She is the career scoring leader at Crestview. She shared Player of the Year honors with Toledo Christian’s Kendall Braden.
Five other area athletes received first-team All-Northwest Ohio honors.
In Division II, Shawnee’s Grace Freiberger, a 5-7 senior guard who averaged 22.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 5.1 steals a game, is on the first team. She is the Western Buckeye League Player of the Year and has signed with the University of Toledo to play volleyball. Her 1,552 career points are a Shawnee girls record.
Ottawa-Glandorf’s Katie Kaufman and Allen East’s Rilynn Jones are also on the Division III first team.
Kaufman, a 6-0 senior center, averaged 13.1 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Western Buckeye League champion Titans (23-2), who have won at least a share of the WBL title eight times in the last nine seasons. Jones, a 5-7 junior guard, averaged 16 points and 3.7 steals a game for Allen East ( 21-3).
In Division IV, Columbus Grove’s Lauryn Auchmuty and Waynesfield-Goshen’s Tatelyn Faraglia are also first-team players.
Auchmuty, a 5-7 junior guard, averaged 20.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists for Columbus Grove (20-5). She has scored more than 1,000 points as a junior. Faraglia, a 6-0 junior forward, averaged 18.6 points and 13.2 rebounds a game for Waynesfield-Goshen. She has been the Northwest Central Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior.
Area players on the second team are: Lima Senior’s Maisie Strawser in Division I, Bath’s Claire Foust in Division II, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Karsyn Erford and Allen East’s Savana Brooks in Division III and Ottoville’s Carly Thorbahn in Division IV.
Area player on the third team are: Bath’s Anne Oliver in Division II and Leipsic’s Ava Henry in Division IV.
Ottawa-Glandorf coach Troy Yant shared the Division III Coach of the Year award with Castalia Margaretta’s Ray Neill.
