LIMA — A new path now exists to help meet the Lima community’s mental health needs. Path Behavioral Health has opened and is now an available resource for adults and adolescents. The new outpatient clinic is located at 1235 W. Market St.
“In the Allen County area, there is a need for mental health and to help those in the community have somewhere to go — especially in court programs,” said regional director Amber Newcomber. “To help individuals get back to normal life. We help them get grounded and get their footing. Overall we work with the community to improve mental health.”
The clinic reportedly opened two months ago. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce to welcome it to the community officially. The program originated in Utah and is making its way throughout Ohio. According to the company website, the clinic has several locations in Logan, Dayton, Cleveland and Findlay.
“We want people to know help is out there,” Newcomber said. “We can supply that. It is not just for those in their 20s and 30s; it can also be for children or families in the community.”
Unlike the rest, one furry friend sits at the front desk. According to Newcomber, Bobo helps to greet those who come in for help. Although Bobo is not a part of the sessions, she brings joy.
“The office manager here is my daughter (Shelby),” Newcomber said. “The dog that comes to the clinic is well-loved. She greets everyone — especially the children and makes them more comfortable, more relaxed.”
