Feb. 5
William J. Brown, 38, Dayton, was sentenced to a minimum of six years and a maximum of nine years in prison for aggravated trafficking in drugs. He was given credit for 185 days served and any additional days while awaiting transport to prison. The sentence is to be served consecutive to cases in Greene and Montgomery counties. All the evidence in the case is to be destroyed by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. A charge of aggravated possession of drugs was dismissed.
Brown, was charged along with Gregory A. Preston, 33, Cincinnati, and Sparkle S. McGuire, 26, Dayton. Preston was also sentenced Feb. 5 to a minimum of six years and a maximum of nine years in prison for aggravated trafficking in drugs. He was given credit for 185 days served and any additional days while awaiting transport to prison. A charge of aggravated possession of drugs was dismissed. McGuire is scheduled to be sentenced on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon on March 4.
According to court records, the three were accused of transporting nearly 200 grams of methamphetamines to a residence on North Water Street in Fort Jennings on Aug. 4. They were arrested following a controlled drug buy conducted by the FBI and a confidential informant. Records show the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office had received complaints from neighbors in mid-July of suspicious activity at the Water Street residence with vehicles coming and going “all hours of the day.” A confidential agent provided information in early August that an unknown male would be transporting up to two pounts of methamphetamines and a small amount of crack cocaine to Fort Jennings for sale.
Victor J. Garcia, 30, Leipsic, was sentenced to seven days for amended charge of assault, a misdemeanor. He was given credit for two days served. The cell phone is to be returned to the defendant.
Juan F. Pardo, 28, Lima, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated trafficing in drugs. He faces up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a presentence investigation is conducted with sentencing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 22.
Feb. 6
Michele L. Loveday, 40, Deshler, was sentenced to 17 days in jail for aggravated trafficking in drugs. She was placed on five years community control and given credit for 17 days served. She must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all couneling and treatment recommended by probation.
Tonia K. Hovest, Pandora, and Gerard J. Hovest, Findlay, were granted a dissolution of marriage. They were married April 5, 1997 in Leipsic and have no minor children.
Feb. 7
Paiten Stemen, Ottawa, and Jesse Stemen, Columbus Grove, were granted a dissolution of marriage. They were married Oct. 30 2021 in Bluffton and have no children.
Donna Yates, Fort Jennings, was granted a divorce from James Yates, Jr., Lima. They were married Oct. 30, 2021 in St. Marys, and have one child.

Feb. 5
Kevin A. Yoh, 44, McComb, charged with failure to comply, a felony, bound over to common pleas court.
Jacob A. Karhoff, 28, Columbus Grove, was fined $100 for driving under FRA/non compliance suspension.
Becky C. Hanneman, 37, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to endangering children. Sentence: 180 days jail, 170 days suspended, and complete assessment by Pathways Counseling Center and abide by their recommendations.
