Bath, Lima firefighters respond to garage fire

LIMA — Lima and Bath Township firefighters responded to a garage fire Saturday evening, according to a statement released by the Bath Township Fire Department.

Two vehicles and a motorcycle were engulfed in the heavy smoke and flames in the detached garage at 405 S. Leonard Ave. when the crews responded to the report that came in at 5:58 p.m., but no one was injured.

The fire, which has been ruled accidental, caused damage of up to an estimated $41,000 to the building, vehicles and additional contents in total, according to officials.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 30 minutes, but remained on scene for about two hours.

The American Township Fire Department and Perry Township Fire Department assisted with mutual aid.

The resident of the home was present at the time of the response.
