LIMA — With the help of a little bit of inspiration and perfect timing, a new women’s clothing boutique is opening up in downtown Lima. The new store, known as Modish Maven Boutique, will have a soft opening beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 207 S. Central Ave., Suite 205 in the Central District, Lima.
After working in retail, owner Tonya Gendreau decided that opening her boutique was the path she needed to take.
“Lima seems to be growing in that area (of boutiques) and it is very exciting,” Gendreau said. “To be down here (in the Central District), it just felt like it was a God thing. It fell right into place because of the timing — there is so much in here and growing. I think it will be great for downtown.”
The idea was birthed in just a few short months. Gendreau reportedly met with the owners in November and committed to opening in the Central District in December.
The owner hopes to bring “elevated” fashion and hope. In the dressing room, community members can write down prayer requests for any needs they have.
“We are going to have nice quality clothing,” Gendreau said. “There is a line I am working with called ‘Dear John.’ It is a little more on the upscale side of things — that is my goal to bring an elevated style.”
Modish Maven will also have leather goods from Able and accessories available for purchase. The store is located on the second floor of the Central District. The building is also the home of Winans Chocolates and Coffee, Ev’Dera, Touch of Europe and Cage Designs. Elevators will be installed soon.
“One of the most exciting things about being down here is seeing all the growth,” Gendreau said. “I am watching it every day. Seeing the guys here working as things progress; it is neat to watch happen.”
The official grand opening will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. The store will be open Tuesday through Saturday. The store will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. On Thursdays, the store will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. On Saturdays, the store will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Store hours are subject to change.
