Jan. 8

Thomas A. Bishop, 41, Lima, was sentenced to 300 days jail for violating community control standards. The violations included failing to obtain permission to change residences, using alcohol and failing to maintain employment. He was placed on five years community control and given credit for 271 days jail served. He must obtain and maintain employment and complete all counseling and treatment recommended. He had been convicted of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

Jan. 17

Anna P. Calvelage, Ottoville, and Steven M. Calvelage, Cloverdale, were granted a dissolution of marriage. They were married May 15, 2010 in Ohio and have three children.

Jan. 18

Sparkle S. McGuire, 26, Dayton, pleaded guilty to improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle. She faces up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines. Bond was continued while a presentence investigation is conducted with sentencing set for 9:30 a.m. March 4.

McGuire was charged along with William J. Brown, 38, Dayton, and Gregory A. Preston, 32, Cincinnati in connection to a drug bust in Fort Jennings. According to court records, the three were accused of transporting nearly 200 grams of methamphetamine to a residence on North Water Street in Fort Jennings on Aug. 4. They were arrested following a controlled drug buy conducted by the FBI and a confidential informant. Records show the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office had received complaints from neighbors in mid-July of suspicious activity at the Water Street residence with vehicles coming and going “all hours of the day.” A confidential agent provided information in early August that an unknown male would be transporting up to two pounds of methamphetamine and a small amount of crack cocaine to Fort Jennings for sale.

Brown and Preston pleaded guilty to aggravated trafficking in drugs and will be sentenced Feb. 5.

Manuel T. Bartsch, 36, Leipsic, was sentenced to 90 days jail for violating community control standards. The violations included failing to comply with drug testing on numerous occasions. He was given credit for 23 days served and placed on five years community. He must obtain and maintain employment and successfully complete all counseling and treatment recommended. He was originally convicted of possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

Deshawn M. McLaurine, 29, Lima, was fined $150 for driving under judgment suspension.

Jan. 11

Taryn M. Parkins, 36, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of criminal mischief. Sentence: 60 days jail, 58 days suspended, $150 fine.

Refugio M. Lopez, 35, Leipsic, was fined $150 for driving without a valid license.

Heaven L. Miracle, 22, Arcadia, was fined $150 for driving without a valid license.

Alexander J. Hernandez, 46, Leipsic, was fined $150 for wrongful entrustment.
