CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that a Mercer County teenager involved last week in a single-vehicle traffic accident in rural Mercer County has died.
The report said Andrew Taylor, 17, of Celina, died Sunday at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.
According to Grey, deputies responded shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday to Fast Road, near Hoenie Road, in Hopewell Township. The investigation revealed that a 2001 tan Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Taylor was westbound on Fast Road when it went off the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest after striking a second tree. Taylor was air-lifted from the scene by Lutheran Air and transported to Mercy Health-St Rita’s Hospital in Lima before being transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
