German company purchases Concast and Randall Bearings

LIMA — A German-based company has obtained a local business. The Wieland group has announced its acquisition of Concast Metal Products and Randall Bearings. According to a recent press release, the goal of the company is to increase its production and service in North America. The release also states the company hopes to continue to grow in the aerospace, defense, oil and gas industries.

“With the acquisition of Concast and Randall Bearings, we further expand Wieland’s manufacturing and service capabilities in North America,” said Erwin Mayr, CEO of the Wieland Group, in a recent press release. “We are very much looking forward to welcoming an experienced workforce and strong leadership team to the Wieland Group.”

Philipp Jakob Wieland founded the Wieland Group in 1820. According to its website, Wieland is now a leading supplier of copper-made products across the world. The company announced its purchase on Tuesday.

Randall Bearings is located in Lima and Coldwater. According to the Wieland website, the company focuses on creating bronze and brass parts. The organization produces for various industries including construction, agriculture and transportation. Randall Bearings got its start in 1949 in the Lima region. According to the company’s website, the Chicago organization purchased “Shook Bronze” in Lima and moved production to Ohio. Due to success, the company opened a facility in Coldwater in 2006 and began overall expansion in 2012.

The company was recognized for further expansion in 2021. According to a previous article from The Lima News, Randall Bearings moved to the Industrial Park.

“With the expansion of these companies come great career pathways and higher paying jobs. That’s great for this community,” Director of Ohio Department of Development Lydia Mihalik said in a previous article from The Lima News. “This administration is committed to investing in our workforce so more Ohioans can take advantage of these opportunities to rise to the highest levels and be secure in their future.”

The release also states the transaction was finalized on Friday, Jan. 12.
