Tipbacks to host St. Marys native Tuttle

WAPAKONETA — Braeden Glenn Tuttle has never performed at Tipbacks in Wapakoneta before.

But the St. Marys native and Bowling Green State University graduate is excited to head back to his roots with a performance there at 7 p.m. Saturday.

“I spent a lot of time in Wapak growing up and a lot of time in that area so it is very much like home,” Tuttle said. “So it is very much like home. It’s super nice to be able to come back and see a lot of people that I grew up with that I haven’t seen in a couple of years, to be honest.”

And Tipbacks is an exciting venue for Tuttle.

“I’m really just excited to get to know the people and get to see the venue and visit for the first time, ” he said. “I’ve heard a lot of good things.”

For Tuttle, whose background is in musical theater, Tipbacks will be the latest venue to add to his resume, which started when he got serious about gigs during the pandemic after spending three years working in New York.

“Within the past year or two, I really started taking it seriously and reaching out to bars, restaurants and cafes trying to get out there,” he said. “The more gigs I play, the more I practice and the better I get so it’s a win-win. I get to perform in front of people and bring entertainment to people and I just get more opportunities to get better.”

Tuttle performs music that is familiar to the audience, but he is also working on an EP and is prepared to bring entertainment in general to the venue.

“I like to do things that people are going to recognize, but I think I have a lot of edge and personality when I play so I try to let that shine through,” he said. “I like to make a lot of jokes, as well. I’m just trying to bring some entertainment and laughs with my songs for people.”

Fans of music from the ’80s and ’90s, as well as the 2000s, would not be disappointed, but above all, Tuttle just wants the audience to have a good time.

“I just want people to forget about life for three hours and sit back and relax,” he said. “If they can forget about the outside world, they can have a little bit of levity, maybe.”
