Motown tribute Prolifics to hit Old City Prime for first shows of 2024

LIMA — Old City Prime’s Upper Lounge is set to host its first shows of 2024, setting the stage for a year of big change.

Motown tribute The Prolifics will bring their brand of harmonies and choreography to two performances at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the venue.

“It’s definitely a show rather than just singing,” Erika Robinson, director of people and promotions for Good Food Restaurants, said. “It’s very similar to one of our most loved groups, KGB, but unfortunately they are not together anymore. So The Prolifics are probably the closest thing to them.”

It will not be the first time for The Prolifics to visit Lima or the Upper Lounge, but Robinson said that the group will provide good shows for the venue’s audience.

“They have a lot of energy,” she said. “Usually they’re great with getting people out on the dance floor and it brings a diverse crowd to the Upper Lounge. It’s been a while since we’ve had them also so we’re excited to have them back.”

The Prolifics will be just the start of what should be an eventful year for Good Food Restaurants in Lima.

Spring and Main is set to open in May next door to Old City Prime, bringing several new culinary and entertainment businesses to town and Robinson said that the development is moving right along.

“We’re really excited for 2024,” she said. “It’s the year for Spring and Main and we plan to really start focusing on that and building the menus the first of the year. And we’re hoping that Old City Prime and the Spring and Main building are just going to be a collaboration to offer more entertainment and different food choices to downtown Lima.”

And that is of paramount importance for the company.

“We love live entertainment and we love having that type of show,” Robinson said. “It’s a great atmosphere in the Upper Lounge and it drives the dining room business as well.”

And that usual schedule of entertainment will continue throughout the near future.

“We’ll continue to have live entertainment through the end of March and we’re really focusing on trying to bring some new acts these next couple months,” Robinson said. “We hope that people will come out to support them, and we’re looking forward to it.”
