Olsson to retire from Greater Lima Region, Inc.

LIMA — The head of Greater Lima Region, Inc., will retire in July, the organization announced Wednesday.

Doug Olsson, 63, who led the organization as president and CEO since June 2019, will leave the organization effective July 5, according to a press release from the group. The board of directors for the nonprofit economic and community development organization will begin an immediate search to fill the position.

“It has been a privilege to work with the GLR board, our members and all our community partners in leading this terrific organization,” Olsson said in a press release. “I’m proud of everything we’ve accomplished and the impact we’ve had in the ongoing revitalization efforts of our region. Looking ahead, GLR is on sound financial footing, has grown membership significantly and will continue to play an important role representing the private sector in many economic development projects.”

Before joining GLR, Olsson served as vice president of AIM Media Midwest and publisher of The Lima News, along with being a member of GLR’s board.

GLR chairman Phil Buell, the president and CEO of Superior Credit Union, praised Olsson for “his strategic direction and unwavering focus on project execution.”

“We have been fortunate to have a person of Doug’s experience and skill,” Buell said in a press release. “His leadership has brought GLR to a strong financial position, allowing us to make key strategic investments in community development projects in our region.”

Among the organization’s accomplishments in Olsson’s tenure was obtaining naming rights for the Greater Lima Region Park and Amphitheater.
