Mercy Health-Lima volunteers donate $415K

LIMA — The Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Volunteer Auxiliary donated $415,000 to the hospital and Mercy Health Foundation on Wednesday.

The funds will support the health system’s graduate medical education program to train new physicians for the community as well as a forthcoming childcare program and renovation of the hospital’s inpatient behavioral health unit, Mercy Health-Lima market President Ronda Lehman said.

“It’s so exciting and so humbling to see all that you contribute to us,” Lehman told the volunteers Wednesday.

The volunteer auxiliary has raised nearly $10 million since its founding, according to Director Mark Miller, who will retire Friday after 46 years of service, including 34 with volunteer services where he oversees nearly 300 volunteers.

“It’s the most rewarding job in the world,” Miller said.

The volunteer auxiliary has raised about $5 million under Miller’s leadership, he said.
