IHeart Media Flips the Switch and turns on Christmas tree

LIMA —IHeart Media helped Flip the Switch on Friday night to ring in the holiday season in Lima.

The city’s Christmas Tree is now lit in Town Square following the event that emcee Ron Ackerman called exciting.

“It’s great to be back again this year,” he said. “It’s a great turnout and we have great listeners. And it’s always fun to get out in the community and interact with them.”

IHeart station Mix 103.3 gave away a trip to Florida to the winner of the raffle contest and Ackerman said that it felt great to give back to the community.

“It’s so exciting just to see the smiles on the faces of the kids when they see Santa Claus here,” he said. “Giving back to the community is what’s most exciting for us.”

Lima resident Amanda Bloomfield brought her daughter to the event just in time for the lighting and that she appreciated the chance to participate in a local event.

“I love Lima events,” she said. “We don’t have a lot, but stuff like this, we love to come to. They had so much to do, but I’m upset that we missed most of it.”

Ackerman said that he hoped residents took away something important from the event.

“We love being part of the Lima community,” he said. “And we’re just so glad to be back and looking forward to doing this every year. Have a safe holiday season.”

Bloomfield said that she hoped that everyone in attendance was able to make plenty of memories.

“I like to do pictures,” she said. “We did a lot of videos and pictures so that’s what’s important to me.”

IHeart Media had done Flip the Switch for eight years before having to cancel last year’s event. Woof Boom Radio held Lights on Lima in its stead.
