LIMA — Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy was reportedly ‘ousted’ from the seat on Tuesday. Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) has decided to run for speaker of the house. The Allen County Republican party held a luncheon Friday afternoon. Jordan was unable to attend the gathering due to the recent events in Washington D.C.
At the luncheon, Ohio Auditor Keith Faber spoke on behalf of Jordan.
“Jim Jordan is someone who has always done what he said he was going to do,” Faber said. “That is the kind of leader we need in D.C. I think he will keep them laser-focused on keeping their commitment and moving America forward.”
Faber also shared past experiences while working with Jordan.
“You are not going to threaten or coerce Jim Jordan into submission,” said Faber. “ Now, I can give you lots of examples. One of the things I have always said is the people that I like to represent me are the people that when they get behind closed doors are going to do exactly what they told people they were going to do out in public. Jim Jordan has done that his entire career. He certainly has done that in Congress, in the state legislature and he will do that as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.”
Following his decision, Former President Donald Trump (R) reportedly endorsed Jordan’s decision.
“The president endorsed him but I think that is a tribute to their relationship,” Faber said. “It is also a tribute to Jim’s leadership style. Jim is going to have to build relationships in central offices. As a former legislative leader, I can tell you that you do that one member at a time and that is what he is working with.”

Ohio Senator Matt Huffman (R) spoke at the luncheon as well on behalf of Jordan.
“I think this is probably of a combination of Jim’s career that maybe some of us could have predicted,” Huffman said. “A lot of people in this room have been talking about Jim being the speaker for a few years.”
