LACNIP to host city council presidential debate

LIMA — The Lima/Allen County Neighborhoods in Partnership will host a City Council Presidential Debate for candidates. The event will be held from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 209 W. North St.

Fifth Ward Councilor Jamie Dixon and First Ward Councilor Todd Gordon will debate and answer questions from community members. According to previous LACNIP President John Schneider, community members who attend the event can write questions for the candidates to answer.

“The race for president of city council can impact coming legislation and the future of the community,” Schneider said. “It is our belief that an informed electorate is the basis of democracy. We want people to become involved, to vote and to become knowledgeable about the issues that are taking place and what can be done about it.”
