Tesla to rock the house at Lima’s Civic Center

LIMA —’80s rock band Tesla is set to take the stage at Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Sacramento band famous for their hit cover of “Signs” will take their ’70s-inspired sound to Lima for their “Time To Rock!” tour.

Tesla, named after the inventor and electricity innovator Nikola Tesla, debuted with the album “Mechanical Resonance” in 1986 and have gone on to release hits like “Love Song” and “What You Give.” Since then, lead vocalist Jeff Keith, along with guitarist and keyboardist Frank Hannon, Dave Rude on guitar and bass, Brian Wheat on bass, keyboard and piano and Troy Luccketta on drums and percussion have gone on to entertain crowds worldwide.

The band is celebrating its new single “Time To Rock!” with this tour.

“That they are still roaring and soaring should be no surprise,” reads the official Tesla website. “That’s just how they are built. TESLA may have been born in the mid-80s, but their bluesy, soulful sound is strongly embedded in the roots of organic, authentic, 1970s rock and roll. The same roots that produced bands like The Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Aerosmith.”

According to the band’s website, along with bringing the electric-guitar-and-keyboard-laden rock sounds to their audiences, Tesla has also shown its versatility in its 1990 Five Man Acoustical Jam production, a stripped down performance featuring both their biggest hits along with covers of well-known rock and roll classics from such greats as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

The group has also shown no signs of slowing down, as they have released nine new albums since 2000, including the new single that is the namesake of this tour.

“TESLA’s legacy is alive and well as they continue to record and sell out venues all over the world,” the band’s website reads. “As comfortable, rugged and dependable as your favorite pair of boots, they endure. TESLA is a celebration of the greatest spirits of rock and roll.”
