King of Ohio Demo Derby returning to Fairgrounds

LIMA — Triple D Entertainment will bring the “King” demolition derby to the Allen County Fairgrounds Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Dustin Woods, owner of Triple D, said that although the event, with a prize of $50,000, will offer plenty of the car-smashing thrills that fans are used to out of a demolition derby, they will also see a real display of skill and strategy.

“The King of Ohio is a derby where everyone brings out their A game,” Woods said. “It should be some of the best drivers, not only from across the state, but also across the country running for some of the best money. They will put their skill, talent and desire to win on the line against fellow competitors in the demolition derby world.”

Woods said that the derby is always a popular event at the Allen County Fair, but that this event is the best of the best in the world.

“Derbies have the stigma of just knocking the windows out and running cars into each other, but this is about much more than that,” he said. “These guys have two to four months in a car and $30 to $50,000 in each of the cars that are competing in our king class. I hope that we can display the professional side of our sport and what it looks like as more than just a hobby.”

Above all, fans will still be entertained.

“They’ll be very entertained by cars crashing into each other, whether they understand the strategy or not,” Woods said. “The entertaining aspect of it is there’s going to be a lot of high horsepower motors that are very loud with open headers and people hitting each other and guys bouncing around in the cars. You’ll see rollovers and people put over the wall, entertainment you’re not going to catch in other places.”

This will be the third year that the derby has come to the fairgrounds for its biggest event of the year and Woods said that he is looking forward to seeing a local crowd at the derby.

“We’d love to see that local crowd out there,” he said. “That’s why we offer a single day pass to get that audience to come up and take a look at what we’re doing.”

Fans can stay up to date on everything Triple D has to offer by visiting their website and social media.

Tickets are on sale at ticketspice.com.

There will be six categories at the derby, including the King class and minivan and truck classes.
