Fire destroys Shawnee Township home

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — A Sunday afternoon fire caused a total loss to a Shawnee Township home Sunday, but no one was injured, according to the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

A neighbor called 911 about a fire at 1409 Fulton Road, with the resident of the home exiting it prior to the fire department’s arrival. When Shawnee firefighters arrived at 3:48 p.m., there were flames on the front and side of the house. The fire appeared to start in the attic.

The cause of the fire was undetermined and under investigation Sunday night.

The 936-square-foot home, built in 1950 and remodeled in 2020, was valued at $68,900, according to the Allen County Auditor’s Office website. The property has been owned by Dalton Reichert since September 2021.

The American Red Cross and family members helped the resident find temporary shelter.
