Amphitheater work progressing

LIMA — Construction on the Greater Lima Region Park & Amphitheater is progressing, heading toward completion in late June or early July with a grand opening celebration in early August. Windows were put in last week. The only remaining construction is the tile that goes around the arch which must wait until the average temperature is above 50 degrees. Landscaping is being done this spring.

The grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 3-6. All 4 One, a Grammy-award-winning R & B and pop group is scheduled to perform on Aug. 3. All 4 One songs include “I Swear,” “So Much in Love,” and “I can Love You Like That.” The opening act on Thursday, Aug. 3 will be Stedic Music, specializing in reggae and socca/fusion.

Al Jardine, one of the founding members of the Beach Boys, will perform on Aug. 4. Born at Lima Memorial Hospital, Jardine spent his early youth in Lima before eventually settling in Hawthorne, California. He has been touring as a solo act since 1998. The opening act will be Lima’s own Indoorfins.

On Aug. 5, the headliner will be Ian Munsick. His songs include “Long Live Cowgirls,” “Horses are Faster,” and “Long Haul.” Opening for Munsick will be Lima’s own Liam Stolly and Derek Alan, returning from Nashville for the occasion.

There will be three performances on Sunday, Aug. 6 with an announcement to be made when the events are finalized.
